Mic Abernathy: as himself :)

You already know Mic Abernathy...as Captain Jack - but now meet Mic as himself! I traveled back to Austin recently and my sister and I headed into the city to capture Mic in his regular environment, downtown Austin, just a few blocks from the ever popular and eclectic 6th street. Still keeping Austin weird, Mic is lead vocalist for the metal band Halix, a sci-fi enthusiast, and he's a skilled and always fun and handsome Johnny Depp character impersonator :) If you love metal and hard rock you've got to check out his music! Head over to www.halixmusic.com and http://www.myspace.com/halix. Mic, thanks again for having me back for another session! as always - you keep it fun and interesting! and you are awesome in front of the camera! Enjoy your images! XO, Mj

A Day at the Farm: the other Osborns :)

I recently got to spend a morning at the beautiful Osborn farm near the lake! What a beautiful home and land they have - reminding me of my own childhood summers spent on my grandparents' farm. We played with the friendly cows (and my equipment got a thorough licking by them - ew!) and played in the dirt and on the tractors, too :) Lindsey, thanks so much for inviting me to your home to make your family portraits! I hope you enjoyed your session and your images! XO, Mj

Nurturing the Community: Meals on Wheels

I have always having had a special place in my heart for photojournalism, so,I couldn't have been more thrilled when the Marketing Rep for Meals on Wheels of East Texas called on me to document their awesome organization! I was allowed to spend 'a day in the life of Meals on Wheels' also known as MOW to those closely involved :) The dedication of the employees and volunteers was second to none: a well oiled machine that starts it's engines well before the general population has even stirred. I was SO impressed with their enormous kitchen, and that their meals are prepared onsite, healthy, packed and served hot: over 3000 meals leaving the facility by 11 am in a fleet that covers seven counties in East Texas. These drivers and volunteers are sometimes the only contact some of the elderly and disabled people in this community have with another person all day and for many, it is their only meal each day. I found volunteers as young 17 as well as stay at home moms, and senior citizens, helping deliver to the rural communities :) What an inspiration and an incredible day! If you would like to volunteer or make donations to MOW please head on over to their website at Meals on Wheels Ministries, Inc.
I would like to say thanks to all who volunteer and dedicate their time to MOW and especially to Rachel Hatt, for not only asking me to do this job, but holding the off camera flash all day long :) your the best! XO, Mj~

The New Face of UTHC (Part 2)

Brandy Jones and her design team at StudioB Designs in Tyler Texas are at it again! Tyler's UT Health Center continues to transform before our eyes from Hospital to Hospitality Suite! This time they've transformed the 5th floor, showcasing the new patient room designs - think earthy natural tones that speak healing power - and a waiting room redo where we found family members of a patient, enjoying a baseball game together, feeling as if they were in their new living room.
Brandy's designs feature modern, and bold - yet organic colors and textures that speak harmony to the eyes, and stimulate a smile in your mind, all while remaining functional to the sterile needs of a busy healthcare environment! Please stop by their website Studio B Interior Designs and see what Brandy and her team can design for you!

Christy and Jeremy Baggett: Wedding Preview!

While I've known Christy for a few years as an aquaintance, I've only just gotten to know her and Jeremy as friends! What an awesome couple! And what a beautiful family they make together! I really enjoyed being with them on their big day! Their deep but playful connection always shows through in their images and makes them just as fun to look at as they were to shoot! I hope you enjoy your sneak peeks here on the blog as we finish the rest of your images :) and THANK YOU so much for choosing me to capture such a beautiful day! It is always an honor and privilege to be entrusted with such an awesome job! XO! Mj~
