So after a wonderful Mother's Day dinner with good family friends, Zoe, Ava and I donned our flops, grabbed a kite and flew down the road to one of our fave places in the whole world! It was spur of the moment, but I did grab a few shots of our evening, and we helped some teenagers bury their friend in the sand :) Good times! Hot Dogs | Clear Lake Houston Photography

A week ago, the girls and I ventured out to meet some friends and their spotted pets at Bay Area Park :) I was glad I took my camera because I was seeing spots like I had never seen before and it wasn't the heat! A local nonprofit group, RCDR (Recycled Canines Dalmatian Rescue) was holding their 1st Annual Reunion. To date, they say they have assisted in fostering and re-homing over 100 dogs. In attendance were dalmatians up for adoption and those who had already found homes, including this mom (above right) and one of her 7 pups (above left). RCDR is located in League City, Texas and has a website if you are interested in making a donation, or fostering, or even applying for adoption! You can find out more at www.recycledcanines.org.

I recently had the fantastic pleasure of my first 'Doggie Style' photoshoot ;) Meet my newest friends: Bucky, Kozmo, and Gabby - all with personalities as distinctly different as their spots. It was super cold and windy outside that day so we ended up shooting in Jim and Debra's media room - Kozmo even sang for us before we left. All three pups are rescue dogs adopted from www.recycledcanines.org , a Dalmatian rescue group in League City, Texas. Check out those puppies *winks*

I know! I know! They are better late than never :) Here we are two weeks into Summer and I am just now quick editing and posting Zoe and Ava's fun Spring session. We actually squeezed in two: one in Arp, Texas on the back roads in the clover ( a fave spot of mine) and another of course in the infamous Cooper, Texas bluebonnets that were not so plentiful this year. Still we found a steely patch amidst the crunchy dry cracked open earth where there used to be an ocean of them, and made the best of it and the beautiful light! During my recent business trip to Austin, I was lucky enough to visit good friends' of my sister's, January and James Flores and their new twin boys, Miles and Max! Lauren and Patrick were referred to me through a mutual friend/client. In fact, they live in sunny California, and arranged their session during a trip to Bryan, Texas recently, before Patrick was to be shipped off to an unknown destination with the US Marine Corps. Their session was fun...and HOT ;) I had a blast getting to know them and they were expert dippers! And even went right along with my odd fascination with the flamingos placed in their aunt and uncle's backyard (see images below). Lauren and Patrick, I want to say thanks to you both for your service to our country! I know from personal experience what it is like to watch a loved one leave without knowing where or when you will see each other again. Any man serving our country during this time, knows pretty much what is inevitable with deployments. It takes a lot of dedication, bravery, and patriotism - guts of steel ;) for both of you. Kegan turned one this last week! I was excited to shoot Evan's session on the Cascades in Tyler Texas, as I've always loved the rolling landscapes and smooth lawns of golf courses. Naturally we were kicked off soon after we were discovered, in spite of Evan's membership there,but not before we got some great shots ;) Evan also plays the drums so our next stop was his high school stadium where he played for his team. Zoe's first day of school !

Today was Zoe's first day of school...Jeff and I drove her together. She got out, hugged his neck, told Ava she loved her, and eagerly marched up the long walk to those big double doors and never looked back. On the way home, she said a boy asked her to marry him today. She said she told him no ;) He wasn't her 'prince charming.' good girl! lol! She also asked me not to wake her up so early tomorrow.

I am now back in the office after an exciting week of shooting in Duluth, Minnesota!!! what a charming and beautiful town on the shores of Lake Superior, with hills and waterfalls, and a very tolerable 70-85 degrees with breeze. You can't beat that when coming from HOT Tyler Texas... I might just have to escape to Duluth every summer to shoot :)

Photo shoots while there included two families on the beach, a boudouir on a WWII aircraft and Czech fighter plane, a beautiful sunset beach shoot featuring my cousin and her family on a Cirrus plane - GORGEOUS!!! and two beautiful and charming red headed be-freckled children on a farm with their horses and beautiful organic veggie and fruit garden!

Many thanks to Jon and Cat Dauplaise for hosting my visit, getting the bookings, and of course the most luxurious lodging, dining and coffee EVER!!! Love that Caribou Coffee!!! Can't wait to come back ;)

I traveled back to Austin recently and my sister and I headed into the city to capture Mic in his regular environment, downtown Austin, just a few blocks from the ever popular and eclectic 6th street. Nurturing the Community: Meals on Wheels

I have always having had a special place in my heart for photojournalism, so,I couldn't have been more thrilled when the Marketing Rep for Meals on Wheels of East Texas called on me to document their awesome organization! I was allowed to spend 'a day in the life of Meals on Wheels' also known as MOW to those closely involved :) The dedication of the employees and volunteers was second to none: a well oiled machine that starts it's engines well before the general population has even stirred. I was SO impressed with their enormous kitchen, and that their meals are prepared onsite, healthy, packed and served hot: over 3000 meals leaving the facility by 11 am in a fleet that covers seven counties in East Texas. These drivers and volunteers are sometimes the only contact some of the elderly and disabled people in this community have with another person all day and for many, it is their only meal each day. I found volunteers as young 17 as well as stay at home moms, and senior citizens, helping deliver to the rural communities :) What an inspiration and an incredible day! Alan Eaglewolf

I would love to introduce you to my awesome friend Alan Eaglewolf Bryant! We met last fall at the Texas Renaissance Festival in Magnolia, only briefly in passing. My sister and I saw him and I took his picture and gave him a card. Much to my suprise, he contacted me for the image and we became fast friends!
The wonderful thing about Alan is that he is as kind, funny, and considerate as he is handsome and sexy! He makes time for anyone and everyone, equally giving out hugs and photo ops, cheek kisses for the blushing ladies, and feathers and words of wisdom for the children, spoken on their level. To me, he is an inspiration in his ways with others and never lets it go to his head.
Alan is only just starting his career in acting, and has just finished filming on the set of Jonah Hex with Josh Brolin and Meagan Fox! He was also the cover model for Cassie Edward's last two romance novels, Savage Abandon and Savage Sun and will be off filming in another movie in August.
Alan, words cannot say how proud I am to call you a friend! And how exciting it was to be chosen to create your portfolio and produce the artwork that came from your images! Working with you was a blast and I look forward to shooting again in the fall and truly hope your career only gets better from here! donadagovi my friend! XO, Mj~
